I am part of a group of women making projects based on the book The Artistic Mother, and step one is to make background papers for our projects.

I started with pages from an old book of quotes that I acquired for such purposes. I used purple acrylic paints, water, and foam brushes to add color and patterns to the pages.

I was feeling rather crabapple and unmotivated today, but luckily I'd already made plans to get together with my cool friend Jennifer today, so I packed up a bunch of stamps, ink pads, paints, etc. and headed over to her house. She has the coolest scrapbooking room I've ever spent time in! She did an awesome job setting it up and has even helped me with mine.

When I try to get creative with my friends I usually spend more time yakking than working, but today I actually finished all my papers! It was easy, not having to worry about the final product yet. In fact, it was very freeing!

  1. Hey thanks for the comments on my blog! I'm excited to meet other homeschoolers and others interested in creating art as well. I LOVE the pages you used in your papers. I used recycled paper on most of mine as well...but nothing as inspiring...mostly pulled old worksheets from the scrap paper bin. Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

  3. Your papers look really great! Beautiful colorway! (Oh...and I got 6 cards made and half of a mixed media project done at the crop...not too bad for me! LOL!)

  4. i don't know if I'm more bothered by how trashed I look in that pic or how trashed my room looks. LOL. Glad one of us got something done last night.

  8. Those look great. The stamps made such a big difference to the look of the papers. Purple is one of my fave colors too.
